Making shuttle arrangements:
You should
make your arrangements at least 1-2 months in advance if possible. If not,
call as soon as you have made your airline arrangements or know your travel
plans. Making these arrangements are the responsibility of the
patient; if you do not make arrangements to be picked up, you will not have
transportation.
Travel times:
Marcos or his backup driver will shuttle you
the day you arrive at the airport and the
day you are released from the hospital.
If you are staying extra days or arriving early in
the area to vacation, you will need to make other
arrangements for transportation (rental car/etc).
If you are not flying on your release date, you
will be taken to a hotel near your airport to
await your flight. Most hotels will provide
free shuttling to the airport.
Your return flight should be for
mid afternoon or later, never mornings.
You need a full 24 hours of
recuperation time post-op plus 3-4 hours to make it to your flight in
case of border delays. (If your flight leaves at 6am, you would need to
leave the hospital at 2am and there would be no one available to shuttle
you!). Morning flights are acceptable the day 'after' you are released
from the hospital. You will be taken to a
hotel when you are released.
