Feb 21, 2002
My husband and I were scheduled to leave Feb. 21st around 6:00 am to
have the TR done by Dr. Perez on Feb. 22. But our nerves got the
best of us and we left at around 11:00 or so on Feb.20th ( at
night)! So funny! Looking back at the video tape...our eyes were
HUGE and we were talking a mile a minute. We videoed taped from the
We got to McAllen, TX around noon or so on the 21st, with no sleep
whatsoever. Of course we made a few stops in between. We got to the
Hotel and decided to go on to Mexico to check out things and the the
distance. Tried to shop, but I think between the heat, no sleep, and
no understanding of the language, we gave up and went back to the
We had to be at the Hospital at 7:00 am. Our plan was to leave at
6:00, just to be safe, but as you know things go wrong....so we got
out the door around 6:20 or so... made it to the Hospital around
6:55. They knew who we were right away. We signed our papers--
although it was all in Spanish and we didn't understand it--we were
at peace knowing all would be ok.
The nurses treated us so well! My surgery was for 7:00 am, but Dr.
Perez was held up delivering a baby. So we waited till about 8:00. I
still had not met Dr. Perez, just Levi. Very nice man! We asked
about video taping-- he said sure no problem. They got me to OR and
did my epidural, still no Dr. Perez. I still felt at peace. I
remember asking for DH and he was behind me taping, and the medicine
man giver was on the other side of me waiting to see if I needed
more. I was awake on and off, but I don't remember much. I got back
to the room around 9:00. About 7 or so that evening I finally 'met'
Dr. Perez! He even bought my husband and I sandwiches, tea and
cookies. He is an awesome doctor!! Very caring.
We were released around 7:00 am on the 23rd. Dr. Perez give me
instructions and said if I need anything just call. Oh! One more
thing , the hospital was so clean, honestly. Even my husband said
so. I honestly don't think I have seen cleaner.
Dr. Perez is to me a better doctor than some here in the states. I
don't regret a thing. I will always be grateful to him for restoring
me again. God has a place for him in Heaven.
