March 2004
Hello everybody, well first of all I'd like to say "Thank You" to
Dr. Levi and all of his wonderful staff. I had a wonderful time
while I was there. I arrived in McAllen on March 5th, 2004 around 3
in the afternoon. Aimee was there at the bus stop waiting for me. My
surgery was scheduled for the next day but I was anxious to get
there that I didn't want to be late so I was a whole day early. Well
Aimee told me that maybe the Doc would do the surgery early, which
was fine with me, so we went directly to the clinic. There I was
greeted by Nora the nurse. She called Dr Levi. He came later to
notify me that the surgery would be tomorrow morning but that I
might as well stay there at the hospital. I told him that I hadn't
eaten any thing since 8 am just in case I had the surgery early. And
that I was not going to be able to go till morning without eating
something. So he said he would bring me something to eat. He brought
me some really good food, I ate all of it, and it was so delicious.
Definitely not the hospital food you get here in Texas. Believe me I
work for the hospital. After that they inserted an IV and let me
sleep.
The next day the nurse came in around 6am and woke me up to tell me
it was time for surgery. So they took me to the surgery room where
Dr. Moreno was to put an epidural in my back. I remember telling him
to not touch my back because his hands were so cold and he laughed.
That's all I remember after that I was out. When I woke up I was
back in my bed. Dr Levi came a while later to notify me that
everything had gone good, that I had 5 on the right and 4 on the
left plus I had 2 cysts that Dr Levi was so kind as to remove. I was
in pain but the nurse was there to give me meds. I slept trough the
night and the next day was time to go home. I woke up in lots of
pain and Dr Levi wanted me to get up and walk around. I remember
feeling lots of pain and not wanting nobody to touch me much less
get up and walk. But the nurses helped me up, and after a long
shower I felt much better. In all the Hospital was very clean and
all the staff was wonderful. I do speak Spanish but the nurses
insisted on trying to speak English. I thought that was nice of
them.
I had about $400 left over so I asked Aimee and Joe if they could
take us shopping, it was kind of last minute. But they didn't mind.
So they took us to a place where I found lots of nice thing to bring
back home.
The surgery cost me $2100 and I was very satisfied with the results.
I now know that a doc in Mexico is no different than a doc in
America, and I truly admire Dr Levi for his hard work, and for being
able to give me hope and something to look forward to. Again Muchas
Gracias Dr Levi, Dr Moreno and all the staff.
Many thanks,
