March 2007

I have sad news to report. I had an ectopic pregnancy diagnosed Feb 22, 2007. We will be able to try again soon. Hopefully 3rd times the charm. I am so thankful to have been able to get pregnant. I know it can happen. Thanks again.

February 2007

I am just giving you an update that we are again pregnant. Dr. Levi was right on the nose when he told me to relax and “quit smoking”. I did just that and it happened again. We are both elated. We should be due in October sometime. Thank you so much for all that you have done. Pam White

May 2006

Sadly, I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. Robert and I are disappointed, but know that God has a purpose for everything. He knows our wants and needs.

April 2006

Robert and I just wanted to share with everyone that we are expecting a miracle in December. I had my reversal done in Dec 2004 and was given a 70% chance. My tube lengths are 2.5 and 4.5. My right (4.5) tube is blocked. I had 2 hsg’s, one in March 05 in Mexico and one in Jan 06 in US. The specialists here in the states said that my best bet was IVF.  Boy, they do not know the handiwork of God or Dr. Perez and Levi!

Never give up!!! Thank you all for everything you have done for us. We couldn’t be any happier.

Love, Pam and Robert

December 2004

My tubal reversal journey began on December 17, 2004.  My husband Robert and I left for Mexico Friday afternoon. We arrived in McAllen, Texas around 10:30 PM. We drove around and found a Walmart to get water, snacks and a couple of throw away cameras. The store was packed with people shopping for Christmas. We couldn't figure out why there were so many people there at that time of night, but Fanny later told us that people come across the border to do their shopping. I thought that was weird, because I wanted to shop in Mexico.

We arrived at the airport in McAllen at 7:45am where we were to meet Fanny. She called on the cell phone promptly at 7:50am and told us she was running late. She picked us up around 8:30 am. She is such a sweet, personable girl. I thoroughly enjoyed our meeting and our conversations. If she didn't know the answer to our questions, she would find out. We arrived at the hospital around 9:30 with no problems crossing the border. When we got there, there were a couple of ladies at the desk and they were talking to Fanny in Spanish. Of course, I didn't know what they were saying, but Fanny proceeded to ask me if I had eaten anything that morning. I had a big muffin and coffee. They told me it was no problem, that they were rescheduling my surgery for later that day. I was nervous, but after hearing that, I think I was numb. Everything went so fast after that. They took me in a room and drew blood.

We put our things in the room and Fanny took us to Reynosa and dropped us off to shop. She was to pick up another lady having surgery that day. We had a wonderful time shopping although I really couldn't concentrate knowing that I would be in surgery in a couple of hours. We were picked up around 12:30. Fanny had another lady (Noel) with her. I was in awe that she flew down by herself to have the surgery. I am 17 years older than her and thought that I was braver. Nope, I am not.

We arrived at the hospital just in time. They brought me a gown in my room, shaved me, gave me an IV (which I didn't feel), and came in with a wheelchair and took me to the operating room. (It would have taken the hospital 2 days to do what they did in 30 min.). I remember getting up on the bed, freezing to death, (I am anemic) and asking for some cover. They didn't respond, I guess they figured I would be out in a minute and not be worried any longer. The next thing I remember is not being able to breathe. I overheard Dr. Levi asking my husband how many packs of cigarettes I smoked a day. They proceeded to give me oxygen. I don't know if it was the meds or what. They removed 2 tumors off of my ovaries. The next story is quite amusing now, but it wasn't at the time: I remember laying in the bed playing scrabble with my husband and then falling asleep shortly afterwards. I woke up in very bad pain and I could not wake my husband. I hollered at him, threw a pencil at him and all he did was continue to snore. I knew he was tired and didn't want to bother him. Finally, I picked up the phone on the table next to me and that didn't do any good. The nurse finally came in, put something in my iv, then left again. It did nothing to stop the pain. I tried and tried not to have to call them again, but I finally got enough strength to get to the call button. I think they thought it was a fire or something the way they rushed in there. They just came in there and did the same thing. I was still in pain. The bad thing about this is that I had pain meds in my purse in the room, but couldn't bring myself to get out of the bed with the catheter still there. I finally got my husband to wake up at daybreak. He called and asked Dr. Levi to come and check on me. He and his brother talked to us for quite awhile. They are both so nice and friendly and both have a wonderful bedside manner. That is what makes them great people. He came right in and I had told him that I was in very much pain. He told me that I had 3 surgeries in one and that is why that I was in such pain.

The lady that we met was right across the hall. I was able to take a shower and walk around after they removed all of the wires I had in me. (which I didn't feel at all) After we both got our showers, Fanny took us across the border. My husband and I took Fanny and Noel out to eat and then we had to say our goodbyes. They were both wonderful people to meet and I will never forget either of them. Fanny dropped us off at our van and we were home that evening around 11:30. We got home a day earlier than expected with a 70% chance of conceiving. My husband is up in the clouds.

We are leaving it up to our Heavenly Father to decide if we will get pregnant or not. He was walking beside us the whole way there and back. For that we are so truly grateful. He is awesome and so are the doctors and nurses and Fanny. I am grateful for having this once in a lifetime experience and wouldn't trade it for the world. It has been the best Christmas present either one of us has had or will have.

Thank you again Dr. Perez and Dr. Levi. You are both wonderful people.

P.S. I am inspired to take a Spanish class at the college I work for. I think it will help me out in the future. LOL
