Mar 2005

I was scheduled to have my surgery on March the 25th of 2005, I traveled on the 24th of March a Thursday since I wanted to have surgery early Friday morning on the 25th of March 2005.  My sister and law and I embarked from Miami to Houston to McAllen Texas. We had a great trip over there but none of the flights included any food so when we arrived we were starving. We called Fanny since I didn’t find her here when we arrived, apparently she was stuck in traffic.  I was glad, at least I knew someone was coming to meet us. Fanny, was great, and very helpful.  She arrived within the half hour of us waiting there and took us directly to the clinic. She told us to fill out the paper and that my surgery would be that same day. I wasn’t sure what I was feeling at that time because I felt excited and even maybe fearful but mostly excited.  Since my sister in law was hungry I asked fanny if she could take us to a nearby restaurant for my sister in law to eat and she asked Dr, Levi if that would be okay and he said that was fine.  The people there in the Rio Bravo were awesome and very people friendly, never did I feel unsafe…I felt very welcomed.

When we got back, the nurses began to prep me and I was overly excited. I could not wait till my tubes were reversed. Dr. Levi was great. He was very informative and very helpful throughout my whole process, something I did admire since I am an RN here in Miami.  I was headed to the OR and my sister in law waited painterly in my room.  I met Dr. Moreno who was the anesthesiologist and I told him how I have NEVER had an epidural and how I feared needles, he said I would be fine that I will not feel anything. Well with eyes wide open I prayed and hoped that everything would be alright and then I saw the cross and when I opened my eyes I was being transferred to my bed I had not felt anything or even remember the procedure.

I saw Dr. Levi and he said everything was good and that I should rest. I heard my sister in law ask Dr. Levi about my surgery and he said everything went well.  In the middle of the night I was woke up so hungry and thirsty and with some pain my sister in law told the nurse and I got a some Jell-O and water and pain medication. It felt weird not being able to move my legs but my sister in law helped me keep my mind away from it.  In the morning, when I woke up Dr. Levi was in to see me and answered my one important question how long were they? And he said I was 7cm in both left and right tube, I could not be more excited and he said I had 70% to 80% chance of getting pregnant.  I was already great for making to Mexico and getting the money and now I was even more grateful for having a chance of being able to conceive.

On Friday I was encouraged to ambulate and so I walked down inside the clinic and met other women that were going to have the procedure done as well. They were stunned at how well I was walking and feeling, and the doctors well they were happy to see me walking around feeling great. On Saturday morning the 26th of March 2005, my sister in law and I had told fanny we wanted to go shopping so she dropped us off at Progresso where went shopping from 9 am until 6pm, everyone back at the clinic thought we were lost.  But that was not the case; we had so much fun shopping and eating and comparing prices and doing our hair that we lost track of time.  Never did I feel any pain in fact I felt great.

The nurses and doctors were fabulous people and if I had to do it all again I would do it, the only thing I regret was not being there with my husband, he would of love it there. They told me to relax for about three weeks and to try to conceive in about two months.  I have no regrets and if God permits it and is his will I plan to conceive when He sets the date, I can only have fun trying until then.

Thank You Dr. Perez and Dr. Levi and Dr. Moreno and to the great nurses over there you do a great job.  Thank You!!
